Last week we were driving through a neighborhood and saw a house that had been toilet papered. It generated quite a discussion, and of course caught the boys' attention. Aden thought it was funny, but also quite a mess. So we came to the conclusion that it wasn't very nice. Grandpa Dan told him that it was probably done by teenagers.
Tonight as we drove through another neighborhood, Aden remembered the house covered in toilet paper, and brought up all the same conclusions - that it was funny, but a big mess, so not very nice. Then he reminded us that it was done by teenagers.
Wiley quickly added "And coffeenagers."
"Coffeenagers?" I asked, trying to figure out what I had heard him say.
"Yeah, coffeenagers."
Of course. If there are tea-nagers, then there must also be coffee-nagers.
As we realized Wiley's conclusion, the discussion continued, including juice-nagers, milk-nagers, and water-nagers.

Flashback to September - Hawaii
Our flight from Sydney to Honolulu was at 9pm. We rolled into the airport with a trolley loaded with three suitcases and three car seats. Besides that there was Mommy and Daddy each holding everyone's carry-ons and at least one boy's hand, while pulling the fourth suitcase. Noah was strapped onto Mommy. We were quite a sight to behold apparently, as it seemed the entire line of people watched us from the second we entered the building. If this were not enough, we took this time to open up suitcases and change boys into different clothes before the long flight. This took some corralling. By this time, the looks from the people standing in line were looks of "I hope they are not on my flight." Once everyone was dressed and suitcases re-packed, we moved into the line and watched all of the disappointed people glare at us as they passed us in the zig-zag line. We made it to the gate, and the boys were in awe once again by all of the airplanes there were to watch outside of the window.
They kept themselves entertained with that until boarding time. Boarding and take-off was smooth and all boys were asleep within an hour. By this time it was well past their bedtime. They didn't wake up until an hour before we landed. By the time we were on the ground, the praises were coming in from other passengers for how good the boys did. This was not news to us because all three boys LOVE to travel on airplanes. It just confirmed to us what everyone was thinking when they saw us get into line twelve hours earlier.
The plan was to stay on the island of Oahu for two days. The main purpose of this was to get to the North Shore (our favorite spots). We had found a hotel on the west coast of the island. It was here that we experienced the effects of the time change. Hawaii is 20 hours different from Sydney, so that means they are actually just 4 hours different and a day behind. It was enough though to mess Noah up and that was all that mattered for Mommy and Daddy. Each night, Daddy would find himself walking the grounds of the hotel complex until after midnight while a little wide-eyed boy stared up at him. At least he wasn't screaming, I guess.
The one day that we had for getting to the North Shore happened to be Labor Day. We hadn't counted on that, so that beach was busier than usual. We made the most of it though. The water was great, although it wasn't always easy to get the boys into it. Those waves were a little too scary.
Sand castles and burying each other in the sand was pretty popular. Eating the sand was Noah's favorite. It was a fun day for all.
We flew from Honolulu over to Kona on the Big Island. While the lack of naps and routines were beginning to show, we still managed to have some fun. We visited the Volcanoes National Park on the other end of the island. The Park was fun for Mommy and Daddy. Wiley really like it as well and was the only boy that ever wanted to get out of the car and see the sites.
So Mommy and Wiley saw the most. The car ride was the fun part for the boys. Although, they did enjoy walking through the lava tubes. We also found a nice beach to swim at, and one of the highlights was when Daddy noticed a big rock next to him in the water that was moving. When he went underwater to check it out, he found that it was a sea turtle. He swam with it for awhile and then came in to let Mommy and the boys come out to see it. The "lowlight" of the beach was Noah continuing in his efforts to gross Mommy and Daddy out with what he will put in his mouth (see the dead gecko story from before). This time it was a cigarette butt on the beach which is quite possibly worse than the gecko or roach. Other fun things we did were swimming at the pool where we stayed, watching the sunset each night, filling up one last time on fresh pineapple and mango, 'coffee tasting' around the area for the best Kona Coffee, and just relaxing. We also enjoyed great visits with the Kona Church of the Nazarene and our friends there. It actually didn't matter what we did, as long as it involved riding in the car. Each day started with the question of "are we going to ride in the van?"
After all that, it was time to move on to the Mainland via Seattle and Minneapolis. More importantly for the boys, it was on to another airplane. Stay tuned for more of our journeys to come.
